Poker For Your Computer
April 11th, 2008There have been a number of poker game related software programs that have been released over the years. Unfortunately the vast majority of them aren’t really very good. There are a few poker programs that are worth exploring however, and here is a list of some of them.
The Wilson Software Turbo Series offers Texas Hold’em, 7-card stud, Omaha-8 and Omaha High poker games variations that come in ring-game and tournament versions. You can either play against the computer or have computer players play against each other. You can even create new players!
Poki’s Poker Academy The first commercially available computer poker game program, this one uses game theory as well as more recent developments in machine learning. These features make for an interesting program that can actually provide a bit of a challenge. It even has the ability to bluff you when you least expect it!
Masque World Series of Poker Adventure features Texas Holdem, 7-card stud and Omaha variations of the poker game in addition to blackjack and other types of casino games. Unlike the other programs in this list, this one runs under DOS. This game provides a pretty good challenge, although more experienced poker players will probably be able to beat it fairly easily.
